Masacrade
A flying trapeze, a narrator, three acrobats, 25 costumes and a technician with a love of fire: Masacrade is acrobatic comedy with a dark edge. A fatal ceremony that invites us to question the very essence of life itself. Does death give meaning to life, or is it the other way around?
In seven trapeze acts — not the seven lives of a cat, but the seven death scenes of the Marcels — the performance dives into the many faces of death. The death that strikes unexpectedly, that we fear, that we might bravely try to defy, yet that inevitably catches up with us all.
Balancing between absurdity and logic, burlesque humour and tenderness, the performers rehearse dying in order to understand life better. Guided by a narrating voice, they pose the ultimate question: what does it mean to live?

About the company
The Marcels is a close-knit trio that effortlessly combines virtuosity with playfulness and a quirky sense of humour. They approach heavy themes with lightness, take the absurd seriously, and deliver impressive acrobatics without ever taking themselves too seriously.
They laugh death straight in the face and turn risk, failure and exaggeration into a celebration of imagination. Flying trapeze blends with theatre, text, costumes and unexpected imagery. Just when you think you know where it is heading, they surprise you again.
With a narrating voice as their guide, they create a universe where the sublime and the grotesque meet, and where playfulness and gravity constantly intertwine.
